Review of the Australian Cable Initiative (ACI) Operations

by | 7 July 2022 | Media Release

The ACI Surveillance Programme is progressing to plan and is on track to check out a further 12 cables randomly acquired from the marketplace this year.  The programme has already undertaken several independent tests on cables manufactured by member companies, so the focus is now moving more towards cables manufactured by companies that are not currently members of the ACI.

The ACI continues to offer membership to all cable manufacturers and distributors of cables so that they, too, may be part of the Initiative.

We are pleased that a couple of very credible news outlets have taken up the story on the importance of cable marking.

Electrical Connection Magazine in their Spring 2022 edition has published an article on this important matter. In addition, Energy Safe Victoria has an article on page 25 of their Winter 2022 edition of Electrical News ( EnergySafe Magazine Winter 2022 (joomag.com) ) that discusses cable safety.

We urge you to be vigilant towards any cable products that cause you concern or suspicion.  Feel free to contact the ACI through our website if you would like to report suspicious cable.
